Ian Furby
Company Director

I G Property is headed up by hands-on director Ian Furby. As an experienced landlord with more than 35 years of successful Property Management know-how, he offers a reliable, knowledgeable service you can trust. Ian is warm, friendly and approachable, he is a born leader and ensures great service is always at the forefront of the business.

Ian is born and bred in Yorkshire, with a fantastic knowledge of the area. He is always on hand to offer support and advice to landlords, be it where to buy, how to maximise yields, advice on developing properties or general day to day queries. His proactive and driven attitude to the business has led I G Property to be the Leading Student Lettings Agency in York.

General Manager

  • Kind, caring and supportive, Katherine enjoys looking after both the team and clients
  • With over 21 years’ experience in Lettings, almost 20 of which at I G Property, Katherine is an extremely dedicated manager with a wealth of knowledge of the field
  • SafeAgent Qualified status and with a Diploma in Residential Lettings & Management, Katherine ensures best practices are adhered to
  • Spending her whole life in Yorkshire, Katherine is originally from just north of York, and has spent time at University living in Sheffield and Harrogate, and returned to her hometown in 2002
  • Dedicated to the continued Professional Development of the whole team
  • Katherine is really into films and music, and loves nothing better than a Netflix binge on a weekend
  • With a young son and family, Katherine enjoys spending time socialising with friends and extended family members

Ellie Furby
Business Development Manager

  • Ellie has been a proud member of the I G Property team for 11 years. Starting with administrative jobs and working up to her current managerial position, Ellie has gained a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of student and residential letting
  • Being born and raised in and around York, with a brief stint in Newcastle while she obtained a Business Management degree, Ellie has made our beautiful city her home
  • Ellie is a dedicated worker who takes a lot of pride in her job, especially when it comes to teamworking and cultivating client and contractor relationships
  • As a self-proclaimed bookworm, Ellie spends a good deal of time with her nose in a book when not spending time with family and friends or travelling the world
  • Ellie embarked on a journey a couple of years ago, spending several months traveling through Costa Rica, where she immersed herself in learning Spanish and dedicated her time to volunteering with a Sea Turtle Conservation project

  • A graduate of the University of York, Amy has first-hand experience within the student market
  • Amy joined the team in 2017, initially as a Lettings Negotiator, but she now enjoys supporting both the Lettings and Maintenance Teams in her role as Assistant Manager
  • From a customer service background, Amy is keen to provide exemplary service to landlords and students alike
  • With a key interest in boosting the efficiency and productivity of our company, Amy offers a dynamism essential to her role
  • Whilst not originally from York, after moving here for University Amy loved it so much that she decided to become a permanent resident and spends her free time with her family

  • Sarah has over 23 years working in finance, with 11 of these years at I G Property
  • Born and bred in Yorkshire

  • Sarah is meticulous in ensuring the company is up to date with registrations with Professional bodies
  • Dedication and perseverance enable Sarah's impressive record for obtaining rent due
  • Poppy is Sarah's rescue dog, is 12 years old and enjoys long walks and wandering around the office trying to persuade everyone to share their lunches
  • Poppy spends time in the office with us all, and unless she is barking at people with hi-vis jackets or hats on, is very placid and spends her time sleeping under Sarah's desk

  • With over 9 years of experience working in hospitality Lucy has a passion for delivering excellent customer service
  • Lucy has now been with I G Property for over 6 years and enjoys the varied workload and the problem-solving aspect that comes with being a Maintenance and Compliance Co-ordinator
  • Reliable, resourceful, approachable and a great listener, Lucy is an integral member of the I G Property team
  • With a young family, Lucy is extremely well organised, caring and efficient
  • Originally from Bristol, Lucy has now lived in York for almost 10 years
  • In her free time Lucy enjoys spending time as a family and going for walks with her dog Alfie

  • Lauren has been promoted to Senior Maintenance Coordinator. Lauren has been an integral part of our team for 4 years, demonstrating exceptional dedication, care, and consideration in all her endeavours. She consistently rises to challenges, striving to achieve excellence in her work
  • With a background in Claims Handling, Lauren enjoys the challenges that this role throws her way, whilst using her skills learnt in previous roles
  • Having previously worked on cruise ships, Lauren has had the chance to see the world, and loves going on holiday to experience different cultures and meet new people
  • In her spare time Lauren enjoys listening to music and going to many different venues across the country seeing various artists live in concert

  • Emily is an English Literature Graduate of York St John University with experience renting as a student, including through I G Property!
  • Emily has been a member of the I G team since 2017, and has been living in York since 2013!
  • As a true crime and horror fanatic, Emily is our resident know-it-all for all the things that go bump in the night
  • Emily is a craft beer fan and loves trying many different beers from breweries over the world, and in her spare time enjoys writing reviews about what she's been drinking

  • Rachel has been a valued member of the I G Property team for three years, consistently growing and evolving within her role.
  • Originally from Newcastle, Rachel moved to York to study at York University 8 years ago and loved it so much she decided to stay
  • Rachel has a BA and MA in English Literature from the University of York
  • Rachel brought with her 5 years of experience in retail, including operations and management
  • Rachel has personal experience of both student and residential housing in York, aiding in her new role in the Lettings Team
  • In her spare time Rachel enjoys baking, watching films (especially a good horror), and is also getting into wine-tasting

  • Lisa is coming up to her four-year milestone with I G Property. Lisa initially joined us as a temporary staff member, extending her support in various capacities over the subsequent months. Her return on a full-time basis underscores her unwavering dedication and loyalty to our team
  • With a background in Sales and Customer Service, Lisa has adapted to her role wonderfully and has become a valued member of the Lettings Team
  • Lisa has an infectious fun-loving attitude and goes above and beyond to help in every aspect of her work.
  • As an avid Foodie, Lisa spends her free time trying new dishes, when not with family and friends
  • Lisa has a passion for historical buildings and has always had an interest in property
  • If she's not in and around the York area, you will most likely find Lisa exploring some of her favourite places to visit in the UK – The Lake District & Whitby

  • Hayley brings a wealth of expertise to the team, gained through valuable experience in Tenant Referencing and as a residential coordinator within a student block of flats
  • Outside of work, Hayley's passions extend to the hockey field, running trails, and the warmth of her kitchen where she indulges in baking
  • Beyond a career, her interest in property is a genuine fascination she's eager to delve deeper into
  • Hailing from Scarborough, Hayley holds both a BA and an MA in Interior Architecture and Design from the University of Lincoln
  • Having navigated the challenges of student life herself, Hayley empathises with the struggles of finding suitable accommodation and is dedicated to smoothing the process for our tenants

  • Steven has become an invaluable member of the I G Property team since joining us three years ago
  • Having worked within the maintenance field for all his career, Steven is equipped with plentiful knowledge of property maintenance
  • Being a caring family-man, Steven loves spending his free time with his young family and taking his dog on long walks
  • Steven is an avid music lover, a football fan and enjoys a pint or two at the pub if he ever gets the chance!

  • Olivia joined the I G Property Team in the Maintenance Department in May 2024 and has been an integral part of the team ever since
  • Coming to us with a can-do attitude and a skill for excellent customer service, Olivia completed a degree in Early Years and Education at Liverpool John Moores University in 2023
  • Being born and raised just outside of York, Olivia enjoys the quiet life the countryside has to offer and spends her free time with her family and taking her beloved dogs on long walks
  • Having not long been out of University life herself, Olivia has a great understanding of the challenges of student life and uses this in her role daily to help make the student accommodation experience as easy as possible for all of our tenants
  • Olivia has been such a hard worker since starting with us here at I G Property, so when she just wants to relax, she loves to lose herself in a book

  • Yorkshire born and raised in the countryside, Sophia spent 6 years in hospitality as a chef, earning Apprentice of the Year.
  • Now enjoys building rapport with landlords and contractors whilst helping students settle into their homes.
  • Currently renovating her own house, putting her problem-solving skills to good use.
  • Plays football and enjoys most sports, as well as regular gym sessions.
  • Loves spending time with her nieces and nephews.
  • Spring is her favourite season, apple crumble with raspberries and ice cream is her comfort food, and she'll choose a beach holiday any day.

  • Studied BA Hons Management at the University of York whilst working as a fishmonger - in Matthew's own words, it was fin-tastic
  • Spent 10 years in Local Authority housing with North Yorkshire Council, holding roles in tenancy management and affordable housing development
  • Recently joined the I G Property team part-time, helping the Maintenance Team during Lauren's maternity leave.
  • Strong communicator with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to learn quickly
  • Supports York City and York City Knights at the local stadium
  • Film enthusiast who can often be found at the cinema, critiquing the films on offer
